We are a small private facility located near Shingle Springs and Cameron Park, CA. Approx. 10 miles off Hwy 50 and 45 minutes East of Sacramento. A quiet country atmosphere where the horses are happy and well cared for and the students receive personal attention. We have a few school horses and ponies available and a miniature for small children. Trailer-ins welcome, limited boarding available for those in the training program.
I have more than 30 years experience with horses including training a wild mustang and starting a few youngsters from scratch. I started showing in college (Chico State Equestrian Team) and currently attend both rated and schooling shows with SAHJA, CDS and Arabian (AHA). My students are proving themselves in the show ring. Qualifying for CDS Junior Championships and earning ribbons in both dressage and hunter/jumper shows. Teaching both hunt seat equitation as well as dressage, I specialize in developing beginner riders and getting them to their first shows. We also jump and trail ride our horses.
My TRAINING program for horses uses a combination of Natural Horsemanship and Classical training methods. I start youngsters, ride greenies, and get horses to their first shows in either Hunt Seat or Dressage (sometimes both). Three month committment for horses in training.
The LESSON programs are tailored to suit the individual rider. Private lessons are approx. 45 - 1 hour. Small group typically runs over an hour. New students begin with ground instruction which includes learning how to prepare the horse for the lesson and ends with putting the horse away. Mounted time will vary depending on how long it takes to prepare the horse. Minimum mounted time is 20 minutes. Mounted time increases as students progress. Once proficient, students will arrive before their scheduled lesson time and prepare the horse themselves.
